Ryde
Ryde is the largest town on the Isle of Wight, with a population of around 30,000. It is positioned on the northeast coast of the Island and boasts 6 miles of superb sandy beach. The town has everything you would expect in a top seaside resort. Along the Victorian Esplanade, you will find an ice rink, nightclub, swimming pool, boating lake, putting green and 22-lane ten-pin bowling alley. There are the usual seaside shops and arcades, as well as many trendy bars, cafés and restaurants. Shopping in Ryde is an absolute joy, with many streets full of well-known retail outlets, as well as plenty of shops unique to the Island. The towns pier is half a mile long and is one of the largest in Britain. Every August Bank Holiday weekend, Ryde plays host to the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, when thousands of scooterists converge on the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the entertainment.
