DescriptionThe Pond Café is a modern and stylish restaurant situated in the beautiful location of Bonchurch, with an outside terrace overlooking the village pond. The restaurant interior is simple and clean and provides the perfect backdrop to your meal, both for lunch or dinner. At The Pond Café, the emphasis is on the quality of food so all of the ingredients are carefully sourced and selected. All our dishes are freshly cooked to order, and we bake our own bread every day on the premises.
Our Chef - Luke Borley
After various jobs in the hospitality industry, Luke got his first break in the kitchen at The Lords of the Manor Hotel under the tutelage of Michelin Starred chef John Campbell. He completed his 18 months training here and moved to the Cotswold House Hotel where he expanded his knowledge of Modern European Cooking in the two established restaurants, Julianas and Hicks Brasserie. Luke has taken the aspects from his fine dining background and now offers the quality aspects of this, but in the more relaxed atmosphere of the Pond Café. Lukes emphasis being that of simply cooked quality ingredients sourced locally and inspired by the seasonal availability.
Since opening in 2003, our chefs have made the restaurant the success that it is and have received accolades from the Good Food Guide and the AA. Comments include, "Innovative dishes with flavour and imagination", "Good, in fact excellent", "Fabulous food, fabulous setting, fabulous service."
