"NEW" WATERCOLOUR COURSE FOR BEGINNERS AT WARNERS BEMBRIDGE COAST HOTEL, SEPT 12-13.Description
Welcome to Becky Samuelson Fine Arts. I have been painting professionally for twenty years and work from my studio in St Helens on the Isle of Wight where I specialise in marine, landscape and architectural paintings in watercolour, acrylic and pastel to commission or for exhibitions. Much of my inspiration comes from our amazing Island countryside with its huge diversity and great natural light providing me with constant inspiration. I particularly love the use of colour and the effect of light and try to seek out new and innovative ways of interpreting my subject. My work has been exhibited in major galleries both on and off the Island, including the Alexander Gallery at Bristol, UK Fine Art in Ledbury and The Bembridge Gallery on the Isle of Wight. I exhibit annually at The Mall Galleries for the "Art for Youth" exhibition and regularly with various London societies.
I am a member of The Society of Women Artists and the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists.
I am a contributor to the Leisure Painter Magazine and am currently working on a new series for them.
2009 exhibitions include:
Easter Exhibition Brading Roman Villa
June 19th -21st West Woodhay Garden Show [Nr Newbury]

I teach for the Adult Education Service at the Isle of Wight College, run private classes and an outdoor summer school and have produced artwork for numerous businesses. I also enjoy demonstrating to groups and am happy to undertake commissions.

I spend as much time as possible sketching, with my preferred method as pen and wash, mainly for its immediacy and the impressionistic style that I can achieve with this. Venice, Lake Garda, Honfleur, the lavender fields of Provence and Sorrento are recent hotspots of mine. For the past 22 years I have sailed with my husband in firstly "X" One Designs and then in "Redwings" which has added to my repertoire of subject matter and I am equally at home painting the various classes of sailing boats in the Solent and during Cowes week as I am with beach and landscape scenes. For those who want their boats painted, I have found it essential to have knowledge of rigging and design for accuracy.
