Description
David & June would like to welcome you to Abbotts Bed & Breakfast - formerly known as Fawlty Towers! The B&B is a large, ground floor Victorian apartment with a garden overlooking Ventnor Bay and is situated in a quiet, but central position. Just a one-minute walk down a private path leads you down to the beach and coastal path. The B&B could be used as a base to visit the many attractions and festivals on the Island or just to relax on the beach. There are good pubs and a wine bar on the seafront, all serving good food at a reasonable price. The Spyglass Inn is right on the waters edge and features live music every night.Ventnor town centre is just a five-minute walk from Abbotts Bed & Breakfast, where you will find further restaurants and pubs, as well as a good choice of shops. The Winter Gardens frequently has live music/concerts and is also a five-minute walk. One of the most beautiful locations on the Isle of Wight, Steephill Cove is about a thirty-minute stroll westwards, along the cliffs where, in summer months, there is an excellent fish restaurant. A level walk 30 minutes east leads to the old coastal village of Bonchurch where there is a nice friendly pub and restaurant.
Our B&B accommodation consists of a twin bedded en-suite room. The 3ft beds are of a high standard 'Staples'. If theyre good enough for the Queen, they're good enough for us! The room contains a TV and tea & coffee making facilities. Start the day with a slap-up breakfast overlooking the sea - when the weather is kind it is served on the terrace. We are pleased to welcome dogs as non-paying guests and would be quite happy to look after a dog if guests wanted to go to a concert or visit a restaurant where dogs are not allowed. We also welcome walkers or cyclists and are quite happy to deliver heavy bags (for a nominal charge) to their next destination.
There are several golf courses on the Isle of Wight the nearest is Ventnor Golf Club which boasts magnificent views over the English Channel. For a nominal charge for petrol, we would be pleased to drive golfers up to the golf club and pick them up later to enable them to enjoy the 19th hole!
Unfortunately, there are no parking facilities at Abbotts Bed & Breakfast, but there are free parking spaces in nearby Esplanade Road where guests can usually park. Marine Parade is a privately owned road with designated parking spaces for home owners - we will always ask the road owner if there is a guest space available but we cannot guarantee parking. Free 24 hour parking is available on the seafront in winter months. In summer months it is free from 6pm - 10am. It is £6 to park for 24 hours on the front (£3 in central town car park.) Alternatively, parking tickets can be purchased from Tourist Information, which enables drivers to park on any Council Car Park on the Island. Tourist Permits are from 2 14 days and work out at about £3 - £5 per day.
We cannot guarantee the weather - it is England after all! - but Ventnor does have its own microclimate. It is not necessarily hotter than the mainland, but we do seem to have more sunshine! Hope to see you down here soon.
