Freshwater Bay
Freshwater Bay is a small cove on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It has a pleasant beach consisting of pebbles, shingle and sand. This is one of the safest places for swimming on the Island and is surrounded by spectacular scenery including the famous chalk cliffs. More than half of the Isle of Wight has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Freshwater Bay falls into that category. The famous poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson lived at nearby Farringford House, which is now The Farringford, one of the best hotels on the Island.
