Isle of Wight Holidays

Ryde Beach

Isle of Wight holidays are an experience never to be forgotten. If you have never visited this wonderful Island before, you really don´t know what you´re missing. With a fantastic selection of Isle of Wight hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfasts and self catering accommodation available, finding somewhere to stay is never a problem. A survey carried out by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) has revealed that the Isle of Wight is one of the UK´s top 10 destinations for British holidaymakers. The Island is featured alongside major city destinations such as London, York and Edinburgh and is one of only four coastal locations listed in the top 10. The survey revealed that between May 2005 and April 2006, UK visitors to the Isle of Wight made close to one million overnight trips.

The wide range of excellent Isle of Wight accommodation can be found in either one of the lively towns or relaxed villages and many boast fantastic countryside or sea views. Whatever your preference, from luxury hotels such as the Lakeside Park Hotel to basic campsites, there is a wealth of superb places to stay to suit all tastes and budgets. Accommodation on the Island ranges from cheap and cheerful b&bs and guest houses to splendid country house hotels like Luccombe Hall Country House Hotel. Whatever you decide upon, you will find that they all provide a holiday to remember. If you prefer a self catering break, there is a great selection of caravan parks to choose from as well as apartments and cosy cottages, like the ones on offer at Chilton Farm Cottages.

Cycling

Another reason why Isle of Wight holidays are so memorable is the huge range of fantastic attractions and activities that are on offer. In fact, there is so much to see and do here on the Island, you will undoubtedly find that one visit is never enough. Walking and cycling on the Isle of Wight are popular past times because of the outstanding natural beauty here on the Island with over 500 miles of public footpaths including dramatic coastal paths. With the Isle of Wight being the sailing capital of the world, water sports are also a major activity, with Cowes Week being the biggest sailing regatta in the world. The climate here is almost sub-tropical and Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are regularly at the top of the UK sunshine table. Over 50% of the Island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty with about half of the coastline named as Heritage Coast - an honour only awarded to the finest stretches of coastline in the country.

Sandown Beach

For the visitor who enjoys eating and drinking, there are many superb pubs and restaurants to be found all over the Island, most providing excellent home cooked food and locally brewed beers and wines. There is more than one pub for every square mile, so the opportunity to quench your thirst is never far away. Most pubs and restaurants provide mouth-watering locally produced food as well as all your favourite beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Many hostelries are in prime locations, providing spectacular sea or countryside views. So you should now see why Isle of Wight holidays are so popular with not only British tourists, but with visitors from abroad too.
