Description

Heather and Mike Nelson welcome you to Mattingley Farm Holidays. We offer family-run 4 star Isle of Wight self catering accommodation in the form of two dairy cottages and the wonderful Blake´s Barn. We have many animals on our farm, and there are plenty of fun things to do during your holiday with us. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, by email, phone, or even the good old post. Whether you stay in the stunning Blake´s Barn or one of our beautiful Dairy Cottages, we aim to ensure you have the best possible holiday.

If you want to enjoy the great outdoors or simply unwind from your stressful life, we can accommodate all types of vacation experience. Visitors expecting a wild party atmosphere, with noisy nightclubs, amusement arcades and chip shops will be disappointed by the tranquillity of the setting! The lack of traffic noise and pitch darkness (if there is no moonlight) are a complete change for most of our guests and it usually takes a few days to acclimatise to the countryside. As we have young children of our own, Mattingley Farm Holidays are designed to be as child-friendly as possible. Once past the inner gates, there is no access to the road, so children can run around the fields or ride on bicycles with a freedom seldom experienced elsewhere.

With trees to climb, swings to play on and the devilish ropewalk, there is no shortage of fun things to do outside. The Play Barn includes a full size snooker table, trampoline, soft play and table tennis. While we try to make play as safe as possible, the odd tumble is just part of life on the farm and adult supervision is recommended at all times, especially with younger children in the Play Barn. If you´re really lucky, you may even get to drive the tractor or ride one of the horses. Blake?s Barn Named after the 17th century owner of the farm, Blake?s Barn is situated within the grounds of the farm and is constructed from Island stone, with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams.

Built during the Victorian era, the barn was sympathetically converted in 1993 specifically for holiday accommodation and provides an ideal base from which to enjoy the natural beauty of the Isle of Wight. Two sets of French doors open from the living area into its own secluded, secure walled garden with the added bonus of allowing an abundance of natural light into the building. Comfortably furnished to a high standard, Blake´s Barn´s size makes it perfect for larger gatherings, especially when used in conjunction with the accommodation offered by the Dairy Cottages. Indeed, Blake´s Barn has hosted many special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays and family reunions. Dairy Cottages In 1999, the old milking parlour was beautifully converted into two cosy cottages specifically for holiday accommodation. They are semi-detached and although a mirror image of each other, have slight differences in layout.

Cottage 1 sleeps up to five persons, with two bedrooms, a double that can also accommodate a folding bed (?Z? bed) for a young person plus a further twin room.

Cottage 2 has two bedrooms, with a double and a twin with two 2´6´ beds and so can comfortably accommodate a family of four. A cot, high chair and booster seats are available on request. The living area is open plan and the vaulted, beamed ceilings with skylights allow an abundance of light into the comfortable room. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. There is also a full range of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils ? all that you should need. Tea towels, hand towel and oven gloves are provided. There is a separate bathroom and toilet in

Cottage 1 and a combined bathroom and toilet in Cottage 2, with the bath having mixer taps, a shower attachment and shower screen. Access to the front doors of the cottages is via your own private garden and up shallow wooden steps to your own raised decking area, which has a garden table and chairs. The decking also forms a veranda for the double bedrooms, with uninterrupted views across the farm and paddocks to the fields beyond.
