We are a family-run business offering self-catering holiday accommodation in a choice of either a four bedroom Grade II listed house in Ventnor, or two luxury caravans in Bembridge. The Isle of Wight is a haven for rural and coastal holidays and Hartley Holidays are able to cater for large or small families looking for luxurious self-catering holiday accommodation on the tranquil Isle of Wight.
Self Catering in Ventnor
On the border of Ventnor and historic Bonchurch, with its fantastic ‘old world’ country charm, stands Veryan, a Grade II listed 19th century ex school house. This charming Victorian house provides the perfect setting for a self catering holiday on the Isle of Wightand boasts a Tourist Board grading of 4 Stars plus Gold Award 2011/2012 for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service.
Ventnor and the surrounding area was the original destination for a ‘second home in the sun’ and was known as the ‘English Mediterranean’ in Victorian times. Many a Victorian would flee the city for a short break or holiday to their secondary accommodation on the Island.
Built in about 1830, and originally connected to its neighbour, the house was a School for Gentlemen offering tuition in classics, mathematics and philosophy to later become the house it now is…a large four storey Victorian house in an elevated position enjoying ocean views to the front, and to the rear, at the bottom of a beautiful garden, views of the spectacular rising Downs, an idyllic setting for a relaxing break.
All around are opportunities for great walks – from the town of Ventnor itself through ‘the thousand steps’ to upper Ventnor and Bonchurch. Other Victorian houses are to be found all over this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The house itself has a new and fully-fitted kitchen in the basement, with double ovens and large gas range, ideal for all your self catering requirements. It opens onto a stone and wood floor dining room, with seating for up to 10 people and garden access.
On the ground floor, after entering via the stone steps up from the off road parking area (for 3/4 cars) and the original stained glass front door, is the imposing hallway and the two large drawing rooms. One overlooks Ventnor and the English Channel and the other gives the views of Ventnor Down and the garden.
Up the winding staircase to the first floor, you pass the modern family bathroom and toilet and find two large double bedrooms. To the rear is a bay-windowed comfortable room, whilst to the front a king- sized four-poster bed sits in a sunny room with its own en-suite shower and toilet.

Caravan Holidays in Bembridge
You will find our two luxury self-catering static caravans situated on the exclusive Caulkers Rest section (containing just six privately-owned caravans) of Whitecliff Bay Caravan Park near Bembridge.
No 27 and its direct neighbour No 26, both prove to be in positions of commanding views over the whole site and surrounding countryside. No 26 sleeps up to 6 people and is a Luxury, double glazed, 2 bedroom caravan with heating throughout. The Lounge area has comfortable seating along with a separate dining table and chairs.
No 27 sleeps up to 8 people and is a top of range 3 bedroom caravan with central heating and double shower.
Between them, they can accommodate either single family occupancy or are close enough for two families to spend their holidays in adjoining situations with space for 4/5 cars. There is ample accommodation for family members of all generations.
Both caravans are fully equipped and supplied with everything except personal items such as towels. They sit at the pinnacle of this tasteful and family-friendly holiday park with its organised entertainments, recreational bar/restaurant and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The Park has the added and fantastic bonus of the use of the private Whitecliff Bay beach.
This is a large stretch of sandy beach with a café which sells tea, coffee, food and sundries such as water toys. It is a safe beach for swimming and benefits from being south facing. It’s possible to watch cross-channel traffic from the sandy and gently sloping beach, whilst enjoying that afternoon tea or leisurely walk to the adjoining beaches.
No 27, situated on Caulkers Rest at the top of Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park with a commanding view over the whole Park and surrounding countryside, is our 8 berth Nordstar Caravan. Graded as a SUPERIOR Caravan it has 3 bedrooms – 1 double and 2 twin, plus a foldout double bed in the lounge area if required.
Gas and electricity are included in the price, as are pillows, duvets & bed linen. Beds are made on arrival. (Bring your own towels, teatowels, etc.) The Caravan is heated throughout ; the Lounge area has extremely comfortable seating and colour TV; and the WC and double shower are separate.
The kitchen area contains a gas hob and oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster & kettle, along with plenty of cutlery, china and glasses plus cooking equipment and saucepans.
Alongside the Caravan there is ample car parking space, as well as 2 very sturdy picnic tables – at which you can sit and eat or just relax and enjoy the panoramic view.
In hiring our Caravan you agree to treat the property, accommodation and facilities at the Holiday Park with respect and care, and to abide by Park rules.
