Description

David and Angela look forward to welcoming you to Highview Self Catering Holiday Cottages. Our two lovingly restored period cottages comprise of the Courtyard Cottage - a stone built stable conversion which sleeps 4 + 2 with bed/settee and The Bothy - an early Victorian mews style cottage, ideal for couples, + 2 with bed/settee. Both cottages feature fully equipped kitchen areas, garden furniture and mobile BBQ. The cottages offer excellent self-catering accommodation from where you can visit the many local attractions and activities on the Isle of Wight, which include walking, cycling, horse riding, paragliding, dinosaur fossil hunting, sailing, swimming, surfing and many other water sports. Highview Self Catering Holiday Cottages are available for short breaks in spring, autumn and winter.

Niton Undercliff is situated on the sheltered south coast of the Isle of Wight and is famous as a place of great natural beauty, steeped with history, making it an ideal venue for a self-catering holiday, vacation or short break at any time of the year. The area is a haven for wildlife and the nearby woods provide homes for badgers, foxes and the rare red squirrel that has found one of its last refuges on the Island. It is also ideal for bird watching and many rare butterflies and flowers can be spotted. Many famous people have visited the Island, including Charles II and Queen Victoria, and in more recent times, Uffa Fox lived at Puckaster House.

Attractions such as St Catherine´s Lighthouse, Isle of Wight Glass, Ventnor Botanic Gardens and Blackgang Chine are just 10 minutes travel away. Further afield, yet within a relatively short drive, are the locations that have made the Isle of Wight world-famous, such as The Needles, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle. Many people visit The Island for the vast selection of events such as The Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival, Cowes Week, Round The Island Yacht Race, Jazz Festival and the Walking and Cycling Festivals, to name but a few.

Close by and within walking distance of Highview Self Catering Holiday Cottages, there are several local pubs serving excellent home-cooked meals. We are only 10 minutes walk from Niton village which has excellent facilities and 15 minutes walk from the local cove and lighthouse - one of the most picturesque and dramatic corners of the Island. The Isle of Wight coastal footpath is within easy access.

The entrance to the holiday cottages is easily located on Sandrock Road between large stone pillars. The driveway leads into the cottage’s courtyard where you’ll find ample off-road parking. The child-friendly large garden boasts lovely views of the sea and is the perfect spot for guests to enjoy picnics, barbecues or just relax and take things easy.

We offer a choice of two distinctive, fully equipped self-catering holiday cottages - the 18th century Georgian stable conversion, Courtyard Cottage, and The Bothy, an early Victorian mews-style cottage. Both cottages provide the utmost comfort for your stay on the beautiful Isle of Wight and benefit from:
Electricity included in weekly tariff

  • Bed linen provided (but not towels)
  • Off-road parking in the garden or courtyard
  • Secure bicycle storage
  • Midweek laundry service available by arrangement

Courtyard Cottage (sleeps 1-6)
The Courtyard Cottage has been converted from the former stables (circa 1780). The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and is ideal for families of up to six, or couples who prefer some extra space. Furnishings consist of a futon-style settee, smaller two-seater settee, table and chairs, coffee table, colour TV, video and rugs. The living room has pine flooring and chimney with a multi-fuel fire. At the other end of the living room, there is a built-in pine kitchen area in a dresser style, keeping some original Georgian features and incorporating a hob, oven, microwave and fridge.

The cottage is powered by electricity, which is included in the price and enjoys easy access with a wide front door and no stairs. Through the front door is the hallway, off which is a fully fitted bathroom with bath and separate shower. The double bedroom has a large wardrobe, dressing table, bedside table and lamp and is equipped with extra blankets. The second bedroom is entered through a door from the main bedroom. The room is equipped with a wardrobe, dressing table and bunk beds, which can be converted to form two single beds if required. There is a second door to the courtyard. For winter lets, we provide a free bag of solid fuel for the fire. Further bags can be purchased from us.

Price range per week: £385 - £495 (sorry, no pets)

The Bothy (sleeps 1-4)
The Bothy is an early Victorian mews style cottage and is situated between a converted Georgian stone-built stable and our own home. It shares a large garden and a cobbled courtyard and is the ideal holiday accommodation for couples. The Bothy provides comfortable accommodation for two but can sleep up to four people when using the sofa bed.

The ground floor of the Bothy is entered through a conservatory, well stocked with flowers. The ground floor is the main living area consisting of kitchen area, bed settee, folding table and chairs, lounge chairs, colour TV and stairway to the upper floor. The cottage is well carpeted and heated by electricity (included in weekly tariff). Upstairs is a compact double bedroom with passage to the bathroom (with shower over bath) and toilet.
