Description
Owners Catherine and David would like to welcome all customers, old and new to The Waterfront Inn, ideally located right on the esplanade in the popular seaside resort of Shanklin.
Our homely Isle of Wight guest house, brasserie and bar is situated in an outstanding position, just a stone’s throw from Shanklin´s gorgeous, sandy Blue Flag beach.
Accommodation
We are family-run Guest House and offer eight en-suite guest bedrooms, four of which boast fantastic sea views. We appreciate that our guests´ enjoyment is the key to our success and we endeavour to offer high standards in customer service together with a personal touch.
Brasserie and Bar
The Waterfront Inn is a free house and offers a wide selection of Isle of Wight ales, lagers, wines & spirits, together with a menu that features great-value fixed price options, local steaks and seafood in addition to the usual seaside favourites. Why not come and unwind with us and enjoy a leisurely meal or just a long cool drink in our bar or outside on our sun terrace. Wherever you choose, you will marvel at the panoramic sea views from Shanklin across Sandown bay towards the white cliffs of Culver Down. Live music can be enjoyed most weekends during the summer season.
Location
The Isle of Wight is blessed with the sunniest weather in the UK, and Shanklin, also known as the ‘Jewel of the Isle’, offers a lovely climate as it is on the south-eastern corner, attracting the warm winds that allow the natural growth of tropical flowers and vegetation.
Darwin
The Waterfront Inn dates back to 1800 when it was known as Norfolk House. In 1858, whilst he was finishing off ´The Origin of Species´, Charles Darwin stayed here for a few weeks and remarked in a letter "We think this the nicest seaside place we have ever seen". As we now know, Darwin was a most intelligent and perceptive man!
We hope to see you soon at The Waterfront Inn!
