Isle of Wight Weather
Isle of Wight weather is often superior to that on the UK mainland, largely due to its southerly location and the commonly occurring warm south-westerly winds. Some areas on the Island are also sheltered by large cliffs (Ventnor being a prime example), where the climate is usually very mild and sunny. This southern part of the Island is renowned for its microclimate which encourages the growth of many species of subtropical plants.
Although the Isle of Wight, like the mainland, experiences cold winters, they are not normally as severe as the rest of the country and snow falls are extremely rare. In fact, a nice stroll along the sea-front or through the picturesque countryside on a cold crisp winters day is an extremely pleasurable experience. With the holiday season getting longer and longer, more and more people are visiting the Island during the colder months.
But what the Isle of Wight is most famous for is the great weather during the summer months. With its fantastic award winning beaches and endless outdoor activities and superb attractions, this is obviously the best time to visit. There is an abundance of outstanding quality accommodation to choose from, to suit every pocket, so whatever your tastes are, come visit the Island and enjoy the truly fantastic Isle of Wight weather.
