Description
The Griffin is a large family pub in the beautiful village of Godshill, which has won awards for "Best Southern Family Pub" 2002 and runner up for "Best Pub For Kids" 2005. Food is served all day and you can choose anything from a sandwich to a steak, there is also a childrens menu that has some healthy options and we always have a specials board which changes daily. As a rule we try to have 3 meat, 3 fish and 3 vegeterian options at all times. The garden is quite beautiful with its main feature being a full hedge maze shaped as a griffin which consists of 2500 privet trees planted in 1999.There is also a mini football pitch, Wendy House, basket ball hoop and outside play equipment.
For the "real ale" drinkers we always stock local beers which we change on a regular basis and you can try Goddards special bitter or fuggle-de-dum, Ventnor golden or Yates undercliff experience. There is plenty of free parking and you will find The Griffin on the main road between Shanklin and Newport. We are quite central close to all the main attractions such as Alum Bay, Blackgang Chine, Isle of Wight Pearl", Robin Hill and the Model Village to name a few. We aim to cater for everyone with good access for wheelchairs , prams and also dogs are most welcome as long as they are on a lead.
